ROV Controlled Drills
The Whittaker ROV drill units are based on our tried and tested diver controlled drill units. These ROV drills have been deployed successfully over a number of years, the hydraulics and controls are taylor made to suit the customers' vehicle and control system. Fish-tail or T-Bar handles are provided on these lightweight units which can drill up to 150mm diameter without difficulty. The drill units can be fixed to the job by mechanical arms, suction feet or switchable permanent magnets.
ROV Controlled Drills
The ROV clamps the drill unit onto pipeline then drills through the pipe, retracts the drill bit and unclamps the drill unit and the ROV flies away.
Magnetic Feet
This unit was used in the mid-Atlantic trench from a Russian bathosphere treasure seeking.
Suction Feet
The suction feet are used on drills where the surface is uneven, buckled or rough.
Pipeline Recovery Drill
This buoyant ROV controlled drill unit drills through the cut end of the pipeline and inserts a pin allowing recovery of the pipeline from the surface.
