Turret Turning Grippers

Whittaker design and manufacture turret turning grippers for Tentech designed FPSO's. All three FPSO's of this design in the British sector of the North Sea use our grippers. The main advantages over the other gripper manufacturer are as follows -

• They can operate at low gripping pressures, typically less than 150 bar if required which puts less stress into the gripper rail.
• The use of wheels to traverse the unclamped gripper around the rail, so keeping the gripping surfaces off the rail.
• The use of replaceable gripper piston liners and compliant, reliable piston seals.
• One-piece piston body (including jacking cylinder lugs) for a strong, weld free assembly.
• High yield steel top and bottom plates for strength and fatigue resistance.
• Belleville Spring retracts for clamp plate which does away with the necessity for hydraulic retract pistons and controls.
• Improved and rust free swivel bearings on jacking cylinders.
• If the Gripper Rail has been damaged we can bolt on a new Gripper Rail without interrupting the production of the FPSO.
